My degrees are a BS in Psychology, an MS in Mental Health Counseling and all but dissertation for a PHD in Psychology. I have been a mental health counselor for over 10 years and have taught psychology and life skills courses (including Abnormal Psychology courses) for the past 20 years. I have a passion working with teenagers and hope to focus on topics in psychology that I have found my learners to have enjoyed over the years. I am a School Director and Director of Education and Compliance for an educational facility.

We discuss mental illness in detail. I am sensitive to the fact that learners may have one of the psychological issues that are discussed in class or may have experience with a family member or friend with one of the disorders. I let the learners know at the beginning of class that my classroom is a safe environment and that learners may bring up issues that are of a sensitive nature since we are discussing mental health. If a learner is not comfortable with any of the topics I will allow them to leave class during that topic and will follow up with the learner at the end of class. I will also make sure that I let the parent know of any concerns. I have been a mental health counselor for years and have taught abnormal psychology classes. I will be providing knowledge about the different categories of mental health disorders but there will be no suggested individual diagnosis or individual counseling as part of the curriculum.
