Week 1Lesson 1WelcomeThis week, we will get to know each other, learn a little about the book, make some predictions, and play a scavenger hunt based on what will be coming up in the story. The children will be given a homework assignment to read a portion of the book and be prepared to discuss it the following session.Week 2Lesson 2Let's TalkFor this meeting, we will discuss the assigned reading and complete the first part of an extreme challenge based on the story. We will also begin to make text to self connections. Students will be using higher-order thinking skills in order to respond to challenges and open-ended questions related to the story Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library. They will also be improving skills related to responding to literature during this class.
I have been a teacher in brick-and-mortar schools for 30 years. During this time, I taught reading and hosted book clubs as both a teacher and a Library Media Specialist. The book does contain the theme of bullying. I am qualified to teach this theme as I am certified as a teacher of children with Emotional and Behavior Disorders. I spent the majority of my 30-year career teaching in this field.
