このクラスで学べること

Welcome to the American Girl Historical Baking Camp PART 2!

This class is by special learner request!!!

This is a place where we will do some hands-on learning about different historical characters in the American Girl historical/Be Forever doll line. We will study five different dolls - one doll each day - and make a super easy dish from the time frame in which the girl lived. Many of the dishes that we will make are straight from the books. We will talk a little about the time frame in which the girl lived and then bake our hearts out while learning!

We will be studying and baking the following:

MONDAY - 1934 - Kit - Italian Ice
TUESDAY - 1914 - Rebecca - Ambrosia Fruit Salad
WEDNESDAY - 1974 - Julie - Chocolate & Cheese Fondue
THURSDAY - 1824 - Josefina - Aqua De Melon
FRIDAY - 1954 - Maryellen - Milkshakes!

This class is SO MUCH FUN! Learn history with hands-on activities in the kitchen!

Potential Hazards: Students will need to use a knife, blender, stovetop, and microwave during this baking camp. Even though students will be studying a historical time frame, we will not always be following historical methods of baking and/or recipes. This class is geared towards a 9-13-year-old audience, but parents are always welcomed to be close by. :)

Hi there!
My name is Mrs. Rodenbeck and I am a middle school history teacher! I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th, grade history for the past 5 years! Before that, I taught high school history. I absolutely LOVE learning about people from the past! I like understanding how people lived in different times in history.

I studied anthropology in college. My goal as a kid was to be Indiana Jones! Archaeology and cultural anthropology are my favorite disciplines. I like to learn about what past peoples have built and how those things impact their culture. I’ve even done work for Chicago’s Field Museum since 2007. Now I work in the education department at the Field Museum with other teachers and bringing history topics into their classrooms.

I love teaching about the American Girl books and their periods of time in history because I used to WORK at the American Girl store in Chicago. I worked there all throughout my college years. I loved American Girl when I was a kid and I loved it, even more, when I worked at the store in college!

I love to learn all about the historical times that the different dolls lived in and I love doing hands-on learning! I can't wait to have a fun time learning with you!
