- Learning all about Alaska from the people, the land, plants, and animals. Each class will cover all shorts of fun and interesting information about Alaska. After each class each learner will be an expert in the topic we covered for the day.
Mr. G has 20 plus years teaching in Alaska and he has lived in Alaska for 25 years! The week on Alaska Cultures is a general Look Into Alaskan Cultures - Interesting information and culture about as well as on each of the different Alaskan cultures that are throughout the state of Alaska. Where each culture group lived (traditional homeland), Houses and Settlement, Tools/Technology, Trade, Regalia, and Animals (food, travel, furs). I have taught Alaska History and Cultural Studies for 20 years as an educator in Alaska. I also have lived in nearly each region of Alaska (except for the Aleutian Islands and the North Slope). My degree is in Western American History/Native American History/Alaska History, and since graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a BA focus in these areas I have also taken several graduate courses specific in Alaska History and Native Alaskan Cultures.
Assessment

Technology to take the class and ability to use some Zoom functions (like raising hands). The ability to download and/or print various worksheet activities.
There is not a single Alaska History or All About Alaska Textbook. The material is a combination of many different sources. Also, one of the best sources for Alaska information is that Mr. G has lived and experienced Alaska for five years as a kid and twenty years as an adult. I have also taken and attended several graduate courses on Alaska. Alaska History and Cultural Studies. A week long graduate program on Alaska History, Culture, Science, and Geography.
