***THIS IS A SELF-PACED CLASS*** I will be reviewing enrichments and providing feedback Fridays/Sundays each week for up to 5 weeks if you are taking this course as a self-paced option. Whether you are a teen looking to improve your academic performance or a lifelong learner with a passion for literature, this course will provide you with the tools you need to excel in your literary analysis endeavors! The literary analysis is a perfect way to introduce formal essay writing skills or to hone in on the skills you may have already learned when it comes to essay writing. What makes the literary analysis so much fun is YOU get to choose which literary piece you want to analyze :) Throughout this self-paced course, you will learn how to skillfully analyze literary works using formal essay writing techniques, as well as how to format your essays according to the Modern Language Association (MLA) guidelines. MLA is a must to learn if you are college-bound, but it is equally important to understand that there is a specific, worldwide way to format essays and cite sources. By the end of the course, you will gain the confidence to write insightful and well-structured literary analysis essays that adhere to the highest academic standards, and I am here to guide you along every step of the process and provide extensive feedback to your enrichment activities, rough drafts, and your amazing final draft! -Please note that is it super helpful if you have access to Google Docs or Microsoft Word when participating in this course *Lesson 1: Introduction to Formal Essay Writing and Basic MLA Rules (enrichment activity provided) *Lesson 2: Introduction to the Literary Analysis (outline provided as well as detailed instruction of each part of the essay; choose the literary piece you want to analyze and prep; enrichment activity provided) *Lesson 3: Demonstration of How to Build the Literary Analysis (I will show you how I develop the body paragraphs in the video and give you a sample essay to look at to help guide you in your writing process; body paragraph rough drafts due) *Lesson 4: Writing Powerful Introductions and Attention-Getters; Writing Strong Conclusions (add introductions and conclusions to your rough drafts and submit for feedback) *Lesson 5: The Works Cited page, Revisions, and Extended Activities (enrichment provided) In this course, you will watch and engage in video lessons and individual enrichments designed to develop your understanding of literary analysis principles, essay writing strategies, and MLA formatting rules. Through detailed feedback from me (if you are taking this as a self-paced course), you will refine your analytical and writing skills, making you a more effective and persuasive writer!

Introduction to Formal Essay Writing
This lesson covers the main components of MLA formatting, including how to format an essay properly, the MLA citing rules, and the main parts of a literary analysis essay.
Lección 2:
Crash Course on MLA & Writing the Thesis Statement and Body Paragraphs
Lesson 2: Part 1 will cover how to set up a document properly in MLA formatting.
Lesson 2: Part 2 will break down the three parts of the literary analysis essay: introduction, body, and conclusion, and the necessary parts of each. Using a short story or poem, learners will decide on a literary device they want to analyze and start writing their thesis statement and body paragraph.
Lección 3:
Writing the Introduction
This lesson's focus is just the introduction of the essay. Introductions are super important, especially writing a strong attention-getter. This lesson will take the learner through the parts of the introduction, types of attention-getters that are great to use, and then show them how to build the background information to form the perfect introduction.
Lección 4:
Writing the Conclusion
During this lesson, learners will dive into the three parts of the concluding paragraph, write a practice conclusion, and then write the conclusion to their essays.
