***ESL friendly! This class is a great way to help build English vocabulary!*** In this class, we will learn and discuss one new word each week. Together, we’ll learn about the words: -definition -part of speech -synonyms and antonyms -morphemes (prefixes, bases and suffixes) -interesting facts about the word’s history and origins -examples of its usage in the real world We’ll also try to create something of our own using the word, such as using it in sentences, in a short story, or...
- For each word, students will learn how it is spelled, what parts (morphemes) make it up, its history and origins, and see examples of how it is used. Together, we'll practice using it in a sentence or short story.
I have twenty years of classroom teaching experience at the elementary level and extensive professional development experience and learning about word origins and history.
Tarea
Frecuencia: incluidoComentario: incluidoDetalles: There won't be any homework other than to challenge students to try using the week's word in their conversation or writing.
Learners should have a notebook they can use to record the words we learn and practice using them in a sentence.
This class will utilize online resources including: https://www.etymonline.com https://www.dictionary.com https://www.vocabulary.com https://www.thesaurus.com However, students will not need to access these sites directly as they will be shared via teacher screen share.
