Experiencia de clase

Over 8 weeks, we are going to create 8 different winter themed art projects, all while having fun. Art topics will include painting skills, drawing skills, watercolor resist art projects, pattern and repetition, color, and expression. We will make a new art project each week.

Week 1: Winter Woodland with Red Fox. We will talk about nature, learn what types of trees loose their leaves, and about evergreens, which stay green all winter.

Week 2: Abstract Patterned Winter Landscape. We will make decorated pine trees that emphasizes art, pattern, and color. We will include cardinals and other birds.

Week 3: Funny Polar Bear. Color, shape, and pattern will be discussed. We will incorporate expression and emotion to make the polar bear funny (or serious).

Week 4: Chilly Penguin. We will work more on the technique of watercolor resist, while also talking about form and expression.

Week 5: Hot Cocoa in Decorative Mugs. A fun artwork all about one of the most delicious things about winter! Form of a round shape will be discussed.

Week 6: Winter City Scene. Shape, form and color will be important as we look more deeply into the shapes of the man-made world.

Week 7: Design Your Own Sweater. This fun project will be full of creativity as students think of what their favorite things about winter are and make their own sweaters.

Week 8: Snow Globe with Snowmen. Our final project will be a beautiful snow globe with a snowman, or any other winter themed icons.

Learners will have plenty of opportunity for self expression. My teaching style is relaxed, and students will be able to learn, while also using their own imaginations to create art they enjoy.

We will have lots of opportunity to show each other our art as we are creating. Learners will show their art to the group at the end of each class. I will have a positive critique of student's artwork at the end of each class.

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will continue to improve their art skills, learn new art techniques, and gain confidence in their artistic abilities.

Hello! I am an Art Educator and Artist. I love teaching art to all ages, especially elementary school and middle school. My art classes include watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, elementary art projects that work on skill building, and learning about art history through fun projects about artists - including Non-Western and Women artists.

I teach art from my heart and aim to build self esteem in my students through the arts. I challenge students to find their inner artist through creativity and self expression. I believe in the process of art, individual expression, creative thinking, and problem solving. Each art project is designed to develop technical skills, artistic interpretation, and unique artwork. We have lots of fun while making artwork and socializing is encouraged during my art classes.

My art background began as a child. I loved to learn how to paint or draw anything and everything. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design, I became a children's textile designer in the fashion industry in NYC. While in New York, I attended fine arts classes at the Art Student's League and The New School. I moved to New York State's Hudson Valley, and am inspired daily by the landscapes and nature around me. I also am inspired by my pet cats, who may visit the classroom once in a while.
