Welcome to Let's Create Middle School Art. Students will create a new project each week using the elements of art and principles of design as the backbone. In middle school art, projects will both serve as a review and reinforcement of the ideas of the elements and principles found in elementary art. Focus will be on building art techniques and subjects from simple to complex. Next, we will highlight the element or principle that is most important in each project.

The class will be structured so that students will be welcomed and briefly introduced at the beginning of class. I will then show a brief slide show of the art topic to be covered. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and comment on the art in the slide presentation. Following the slides, I will review the art materials being used each week. I will have an example artwork plus make a demonstration along with students. Every project will have plenty of opportunity for self expression and creativity. My teaching style is enthusiastic and encouraging. Students will use their own imaginations to create art they enjoy while mastering the art topics.

Students will have the opportunity to show their progress as we are creating, and ask questions along the way. Learners will show their art to the group at the end of each class. Some students will need longer than class time to finish their projects. The classroom may be used to display finished work after class. I will provide positive feedback and constructive suggestions tailored to individual student levels.

Hello! I am an Art Educator and Artist. I love teaching art to all ages, especially elementary school and middle school. My art classes include watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, elementary art projects that work on skill building, and learning about art history through fun projects about artists - including Non-Western and Women artists.

I teach art from my heart and aim to build self esteem in my students through the arts. I challenge students to find their inner artist through creativity and self expression. I believe in the process of art, individual expression, creative thinking, and problem solving. Each art project is designed to develop technical skills, artistic interpretation, and unique artwork. We have lots of fun while making artwork and socializing is encouraged during my art classes.

My art background began as a child. I loved to learn how to paint or draw anything and everything. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design, I became a children's textile designer in the fashion industry in NYC. While in New York, I attended fine arts classes at the Art Student's League and The New School. I moved to New York State's Hudson Valley, and am inspired daily by the landscapes and nature around me. I also am inspired by my pet cats, who may visit the classroom once in a while.
