Experiencia de clase

(This is a Flex class, so there are no live meetings)

Join me each week as we usher in the season by creating fun, festive watercolor cards. During class you will receive step by step instructions for how to create each piece, as well as how to address any mistakes that may occur. Learn different ways to use just a few brushes, as well as how to achieve greater control over your watercolor paints. We will also cover basic, foundational watercolor techniques such as such as wet on wet, wet on dry, and dry on dry, as well as how to create shiny, sparkling surfaces both with and without using glitter. This class is great for beginners as well as more experienced artists who simply want to have some holiday fun. Students are free to post a picture of their painting in class (whether it is finished or not) where they can ask for help, mention something new they learned, or simply to show off their masterpiece. Any class comments on such posts should always be encouraging, and designed to help the other student, not tear them down.

When asked for help I will most likely respond with a message, but when necessary, I will post a short video with a more detailed description of how to do whatever my student is struggling with.

This class is 4 weeks long and each week I will post a new video that’s around 45 minutes to 1 hour. (Any additional videos which I may post outside of the weekly one will vary in length.)

Each lesson will be one complete painting, and we will fully cover whatever techniques are necessary whether we have learned them before or not.

Week 1: The Red Truck
Week 2: Glittering Ornament
Week 3: The Snowman
Week 4: Gingerbread Man

The paintings in this class are the same as my ongoing class.

I will be using Arches 100% cotton, 140lb cold pressed watercolor paper. While you don’t need this specific brand I would recommend using paper that has the same qualities since cheap or non watercolor paper can cause problems and lead to frustration. Strathmore is a fairly decent alternative brand that’s fairly cheap, but any cotton watercolor paper will do.

Hi, I’m Annika and I love all things arts and crafts related. I teach watercolor and acrylic classes. In both of these I will teach your children different ways to hold a paintbrush in order to achieve various effects. We will also learn different ways of shading and blending as well as how to use a reference photo to achieve the desired affect.
I have had multiple art teachers over the years who have all come from different countries and backgrounds. Each one has taught me something different that has helped me become a better artist, and I look forward to sharing what they have taught me with the next generation of artists.
I believe art should be fun and exciting and with as few boundaries as possible. This means using materials considered “unconventional,” such as glitter, rhinestones, sequins, and anything else that inspires you. When it comes to art there is no limit to what you can accomplish.
