In this class students will follow along with me each week as we learn how to draw stylized characters modeling everything from everyday looks to red-carpet-ready ballgowns. This class will help students become comfortable using a paintbrush as well as using watercolor paints. This class is great for beginners as well as more experienced watercolorists as we will cover basic, foundational watercolor techniques such as such as wet on wet, wet on dry, and dry on dry, as well as more advanced applications of these techniques. We’ll also cover what techniques to use in order to create different effects for sheer, shiny, and matte fabrics. Students will learn not only how to paint with watercolor, but also why we may use one technique or a certain color over another. They will also learn how to apply other mediums such as acrylic paint, ink, and glitter to their paintings.
By the end of class each student should have a fully finished piece.*

*Everyone paints at their own pace, so I will remain 15 minutes after each class to help any students that fall behind.
I will be using Arches 100% cotton, 140lb cold pressed watercolor paper. While you don’t need this specific brand I would recommend using paper that has the same qualities since cheap or non watercolor paper can cause problems and lead to frustration. Strathmore is a fairly decent alternative brand that costs $12 for a 9x12 pad at Hobby Lobby. (Cheaper if you use a coupon.)
