What is the difference between a solar and lunar eclipse? Why does the sun disappear? Why is the moon red? What are the 3 types of solar and lunar eclipses? These are just some of the questions this self-paced class answers. In this class, learners will learn the difference between solar and lunar eclipses as they create an interactive science notebook page. Learners will also get to tap into their creative and problem solving sides as they create 2D and 3D models of both types of eclipses. Each weekly lesson will include: 1. An interactive notebook page to use as a resource/study guide 2. A video demonstrating how to cut and assemble the interactive notebook page 3. A video lesson on eclipses (lesson 1- Solar & lesson 2- lunar) 4. A 2d paper template to create an eclipse model 5. A challenge to complete a 3D model using supplies around the house 6. Blooket game links to apply knowledge How does this self-paced class this work? This class is a self-paced class, so there are no live meetings. Learners will have access to the recording, based on your subscription (all inclusive or weekly). Each lesson contains one video that introduces the eclipse of the week. Each video will be recorded as if your learner is in a class. The beauty of self-paced classes is that learners are able to stop, rewind, and even rewatch the lesson. How will learners apply what they learn? During the recording, learners will complete a visual for their interactive notebook. Following the recording, learners will be directed on Blooket to for fun educational activities to apply what they learned. An account is not required for Blooket. Learners will create a 2d model (a template will be provided) and be challenged to create a 3D model using materials around their house. What is an interactive notebook? An interactive notebook is a learner made notebook that visualizes educational skills in charts, flip charts, graphics, and more! After class, the interactive notebook pages become a resource that supports their learning. What materials are required for class? Learners will need: Blank notebook (composition notebooks work best) Glue Access to a printer Scissors 1 Brad/Paper Fastener Flashlight Objects around the house Something to write with Optional materials: Colorful paper, stickers, colored pens, markers, or pencils
