In this ongoing class/club, "Explore the NASA Space Image of the Day," your learners will explore their curiosity about space and participate in discussion about NASA's Space Image of the Day and NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day. This class is based on the images that NASA posts for that day. This means the topic for each meeting will change, but the format is the same.

NASA (The National Aeronautics and Space Administration) is a United States federal agency that is in charge of the civilian space program, in addition to aeronautics and space research.

During class, I talk about what we see with NASA's Image of the Day (the image will be shared via my screen for all learners to see, as well as posted in the Classroom prior to class). For example: if the image of the day is a picture of a galaxy, I will teach your learners the meaning of the word "galaxy," the name(s) and type of the galaxy, where it's located in the Universe, the gases and elements that make up this galaxy, and so on! This class is interactive, where all learners are able to share their thoughts on the image. Your learners will be able to have a fun, educational discussion with other learners and myself!

Each day, I pull up NASA's Image of the Day (this image will not be known until the day of class when NASA posts it on nasa.gov) and the Astronomy Picture of the Day (apod.nasa.gov/apod). I post the images in the Classroom (30 minutes before class begins), so your learners are able to see the images before class. The images are different for each day; however, they are all NASA/space-themed.

I like to describe my teaching style as "have fun while learning." It's important to stay focused and on task, but if a learner gets bored, they won't learn or remember as much as a learner who is being challenged and having fun. This class is casual and laid back (but still structured), providing a fun environment where your learners will feel comfortable and excited to interact. I am very friendly and fun, and I smile all the time! I guarantee your learner will leave class with a newfound excitement for space!

Hello, I’m Miss Lyndsay!

I’m a teacher and tutor with 18+ years of experience. I taught in a brick-and-mortar classroom (both typical education and special education) for several years, as well as tutoring for 15+ years. I have since shifted to online teaching and tutoring. I specialize in math, science, and language arts, but enjoy teaching all subjects! I generally work with learners between the ages of 3 and 15.

I received a Bachelor of Arts (Cum Laude) in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Cleveland State University (Cleveland, Ohio) in 2011. *It was through this that I received formal education specific to children with autism, ADHD, and mood conditions.

I received an Associate of Arts (Journalism) from Lorain County Community College (Elyria, Ohio) in 2007.

I was a paraprofessional for the Elyria City School District (Elyria, Ohio) before becoming an academic tutor. I’ve tutored in Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, in addition to students throughout multiple countries.

My philosophy of teaching is to have fun while learning! If my learners are bored, they will struggle with retaining the information. By adding a little (structured) fun, learners can better remember the material. I always use positive reinforcement and encourage my learners!

Two fun things about me: I can juggle (I’ll show you!) and I have an apricot toy poodle named Archie (you might see him sometimes, he’s pretty cute).

---

Note: I still teach classes even if only one learner is enrolled. I do not cancel due to low enrollments.

I look forward to meeting and teaching your child/children; thank you for considering me!
