Main Activity: Pokémon-themed role-playing, problem-solving challenges, and interactive discussions. Writing/Drawing Prompt: Participants create personalized SEL tools like mood charts, calm-down plans, or conversation guides. Wrap-Up: Reflection time where participants share takeaways and set personal goals. How will you present? Participants will participate through: Interactive storytelling: Exploring SEL themes through Pokémon-inspired adventures. Visual supports: Simple slides and character-based emotion charts. Role-playing scenarios: Practicing conversation skills and problem-solving in social situations. Movement-based activities: Using Pokémon trainer strategies for self-regulation and teamwork. Art & writing prompts: Allowing nonverbal or hesitant learners to express themselves in different ways. What’s your presentation style? I provide a structured yet flexible engagement environment where students feel safe to express themselves. My presentation style is interactive, engaging, and supportive, using students’ interests to build confidence and social skills. Every participant is encouraged to participate in a way that feels comfortable for them. How much will participants get to interact with me? Participants will interact with me throughout the session in group discussions, role-playing, and guided activities. Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have over 25 years of experience in education, working with diverse learners in both public and private school settings. As a former private school principal and classroom teacher, I have taught students from preschool through 12th grade, focusing on academic readiness, social-emotional learning (SEL), and individualized support for students with special needs.
Currently, I work as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) providing direct support to families with children with autism through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. My expertise includes helping neurodivergent learners develop essential social, emotional, and communication skills in a way that is engaging and accessible. I am also pursuing my BCBA certification to further expand my ability to support students with autism and other learning differences.
I specialize in interest-based engagement, using popular themes like Pokémon, Minecraft, and other engaging topics to help children develop social-emotional skills in a way that feels fun and natural. My presentation approach is structured yet flexible, ensuring that each child feels supported, encouraged, and confident in their abilities.
I have successfully worked with neurodivergent students in both traditional classrooms and one-on-one settings, tailoring instruction to fit their unique engagement needs. This Outschool club combines my passion for SEL, my expertise in ABA therapy, and my love for using engaging, interactive themes to help students thrive.
