Student progress will be assessed at the beginning of each session by reviewing the phonogram, sound, key, and word cards from the previous sessions. Students will also write phrases and sentences that contain spelling patterns already taught to determine mastery of that knowledge.Experiencia de clase

Instruction will be based on parent input, teacher recommendations if available, and spelling evaluations that I give to your child. Each session will be tailored to your child's strengths and areas of difficulty. I will take notes on your student's progress during each session and will use that to plan future instruction. I will assess your child's spelling knowledge and specific skills on a regular basis to guide instruction. We will begin in the All About Spelling level recommended by the results of your child's spelling evaluation. We will progress through the lessons and levels at your child's pace. Here are a few of the topics your child will learn in each level: Level One: The first 26 phonograms, segmenting words into sounds, counting syllables, initial and ending blends, making words plural with s and es, and consonant teams th, sh, ch, ng, and nk. Level Two: Spelling multisyllable words, the jobs of silent e, soft and hard C and G, r-controlled vowels ER, AR, and OR, and vowel teams EE, OU, OY, OI, AW, AU, and OW. Level Three: Consonant and vowel suffixes, contractions, homophones, r-controlled vowels UR and IR, and vowel teams AY, AI, OA, OO, EA, IGH, and EY. Level Four: Prefixes, abbreviations, numbers to one hundred, days of the week, consonant teams TCH, DGE, WR, KN, and PH, and vowel teams EW, EI, EIGH,and OE. Level Five: Alphabetize words, adding two suffixes, more ways to make a word plural, sounds of sh with SI and CI, r-controlled vowel OUR, consonant team GN, and vowel teams IE, OUGH, UI. Level Six: Spell words that end in AIN, IVE, TURE, ICE, CLE, CAL, US, OUS, IBLE, ABLE, and ATE, and the advanced phonograms MB, GU, and AUGH.
