Fractions are used in everyday life: whether you're measuring something for a project or even just cooking or baking! Now that students have learned basic math operations with whole numbers, Epsilon covers these same operations with fractions. Fractions are presented in an intuitive way with visual explanations of equivalent fractions, common denominators, and fractions and numbers larger than 1. Math-U-See is a complete, comprehensive K-12 math curriculum that uses manipulatives to illustrate and teach math concepts. Using a multi-sensory, mastery-based approach, students of all learning styles can benefit from this program. ** This class contains content that builds. However, students who are currently using this level of Math U See may join the class at any time during the session. Please contact the instructor for class details before enrolling.** Classes will meet twice weekly. On Day One, the week's Lesson will be presented and we will complete the Sections A and B practice problems together during class. Sections C and D will be completed for homework. On Day Two, we will review homework, complete Sections E and F together, and review concepts. Time permitting, we will play Kahoot! to review math facts. During each class, I will use digital manipulatives, real-life examples, and the whiteboard to help students visualize concepts in the lessons. Students are highly encouraged to participate, ask questions, and answer questions in class to ensure they have a good understanding of each concept. I strive to create a classroom atmosphere that is warm and encouraging so all students can succeed at their own pace.
