In this class, students will learn a basic way to do a fluid acrylic tree ring pour. It is a technique using acrylic paints layered in a single cup and poured onto a canvas. The canvas is then tipped and moved around to cover it and left to dry for at least 24 hours. I will show the students an acrylic recipe I use for this technique and how to layer them into your cup. The students will be instructed at the end of the class on how to properly seal their works of art. I will be working with the students in real time. Showing them how to mix paints, layer the paints, and demonstrating how to pour it onto their canvases. Every piece will be unique and one of a kind. No two will be alike. No experience needed and no paint brushes needed either.

Orientación para padres
For the younger aged children, parents may need to help with pouring and or moving the paint around the canvas. Parents may be needed for help with setting up the space to paint in and clean up. Parental help should always be done off camera. Parents are also needed to seal dried artwork with a sealer. I use Rust-Oleum clear gloss spray paint.
Lista de útiles escolares
At least 3 different colors of ready to pour acrylic paints (art paint not house paint), Black and/or White ready to pour acrylic paint, popsicle sticks for mixing paint, an 8" x 8" (or 6" x 6") stretched canvas, mixing cups (at least one for each color of paint - I'll be using 3 oz cups), 1 cup for pouring (at least twice the size of the mixing cup), an area lined with newspaper (floors should be protected as well), an apron or old shirt (paints are water based, but will stain clothing), water with a dropper or small spoon(this is used to thin out paint for easy pouring), disposable gloves (optional), 4 push pins (put into the backs side of canvas at each corner), paper towels as needed

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Aloha! My name is Harmony and I am from Honolulu, Hawaii. I am a mother of 4 children and I found my passion for teaching when my oldest, who is 20 now, went to preschool. I have my diploma in Early Childhood Education and I have worked as a Head Teacher and Co-Head Teacher for my own classrooms in a preschool setting. I believe that the world around us and everyday life is the best classroom any child can learn in and learn from. I offer not only a teacher's perspective in learning, but a mother's perspective as well. I love animals, nature and art. I work with acrylics and sell my artwork online and locally. I have taught art to children from the age of 3 all the way up to adults in a classroom setting. I also do art with my own children at home and found that it is an amazing way for them to express themselves and their feelings. I'm an avid baker and cook. I bake from home and have constant orders for everything from cakes and cupcakes, to mochi and lau lau (a hawaiian dish). I work with my children in the kitchen as well and would love for other children to be more involved to see the gratification you can get from making something from scratch. I've worked and still work with my own children at home with all of their school subjects as they progress through their school years, so I have a vast understanding and knowledge in many areas. I think every child has the opportunity to lead a bright future, and what and how they learn are the building blocks to pave the path that they walk down. I can't wait to meet you and your children and spend time opening their hearts, minds, creativity, and their tummies!
