Arte: ¡Clase semanal de pintura acrílica creativa para principiantes!

This is a beginner level step by step instructional class on how to paint a specific painting each week, using acrylic paint!  Student artists will create a new project every week. The topics we will paint are landscapes, nature, still life, animals, birds, sea life and so much more!

While there is no right or wrong in art, we can always increase our skills through practice and knowledge of how to use the 'tools' we have available in art making. This will be a supportive environment for students to experiment and create their personal masterpieces. 

Students will learn how to apply paints to canvas and follow instructions in a fun group class with an instructor with years of both art and teaching experience. 

The instructor will help guide each student to success and the step-by-step process allows all students to walk away with a successful painting! The teacher will demonstrate techniques for the students to mimic during the step by step instructions of a specific painting. 

There will not be a separate lesson specifically on techniques. The techniques taught will vary from week to week. The techniques taught may include but are not limited to: blending, layering, texture, creating contrast, stippling, pointillism, dry brushing, highlighting, and stamping. The techniques taught will be specific to the painting. I will demonstrate the technique within the project and learners will mimic what I do. Learners are free to make changes. 

The teacher will verbally give instructions on how to mix colors. However the teacher will only demonstrate visually how to mix a color if it is a color the teacher does not already have on hand or if a student specifically asks the teacher how to mix a color. 

I try and wait for everyone before moving on to the next step in a painting. However, I do have to keep moving so other students do not lose interest in the painting. Students are welcome to seek feedback throughout class.

As we paint, students will be able to ask questions, share progress with one another, and converse. Most students will be done by the end of class but some students may need some time after class to finish up. Everyone works at a different speed and it is better to take our time than to rush! 

The only prior skill required is the ability to follow detailed visual and verbal directions. 
 
If time allows the teacher will provide an extension activity. Extension activities may include but are not limited to: fun facts related to the lesson, a story on the theme, or slides on various art topics.
