This is a crash course in filmmaking where students learn the 5 stages of filmmaking and the primary roles of filmmakers including screenwriting, producing, directing, filming, and editing. Each session will cover a specific role by giving an overview of the functions and responsibilities of the person hired for the role, covering a brief history of the role's importance, and most importantly, helping students learn how to execute the role themselves.

Being a virtual class, the students will be shown videos and examples they can later reference as they work toward learning the skill in between class sessions. Handouts with information will be provided to students. It's best if they're able to download them or pull them up via a pdf reader. For some handouts, students may need to answer questions so I can assess what they've learned.

We'll also use fun games as time permits to assess students' knowledge and there will be ample opportunities for students to ask questions and gain insight and feedback from their peers.

By the end of class, students will understand the basics of each filmmaker's role and be able to execute the basic functions within that role.
