Dragon 2-day camp Draw & Watercolor Cats inspired by Warriors
**Artists are welcome to use digital, markers or colored pencils if watercolor paints are not their thing!
In this 2-day camp, students are going to learn how to draw and then watercolor different Cats inspired by Warriors characters. Every artist is encouraged to make the cat their very own! If watercolor paints are not their thing, use colored pencils, and markers, or go digital! 

You do not have to be an artist to take this camp. You just need to love to create!
Following is the breakdown of what topics will be covered each day:
If painting is not their thing, they are welcome to use colored pencils or markers!

ABOUT
In this cat 2-day camp, your artists will learn to draw & watercolor paint a new cat in each class. No drawing experience is needed for this class! I will teach in every class everything your artist needs to know in drawing properly! No spoilers allowed!

~ IMPORTANT~ Be on time for class! 
This is a step-by-step lesson and you need to be on time. If your artist is late for any reason I will let them in class and they can participate where we are in the drawing. I will offer your artist the option of doing the complete lesson on the recording after class has finished and the lesson has been uploaded to the cloud.

PRIOR TO CLASS
Students should log into class about 5 mins before the scheduled start time. This allows time for you to resolve any technical issues with your device's connection.  If you are using a battery-powered device (laptop, Ipad, etc) be sure it is fully charged or connected to the power supply.

I will use this time for students to show me any art they have completed and any questions prior to starting the class session. 

START OF CLASS
First thing, we will go over the supplies needed for the lesson and will ask each student their name. I encourage students to use the chatbox during class for questions. If they have an answer to my questions they are then allowed to unmute to answer the question. I love class participation!  Especially when we learn from each other about art! 

Then I will begin the step-by-step process of drawing out our character in easy-to-follow instructions. Each step will be broken down to the simplest form by using common shapes like circles and lines.  My favorite is comparing shapes to food!  Like a potato or a pizza. This frees the artist to allow for imperfections in their initial sketch. Once we build our character out, we will add details, texture, shading, and form to our drawing. If it is a painting, we will add these using watercolor paints.

How to use your paintbrushes
How to choose and mix watercolor paint.
Create character and form using texture and shading.
Learning perspective views.

END OF CLASS
At the end of class, each student is given the opportunity to show their work on the screen and tell the class about their work!  This is a big confidence booster!  You can see how much they worked and listened in class when they hold up their final art piece!  Thank you for encouraging your artist to be creative!

Watercolor Painting Class Supplies: 
See the colors in the class pictures that we will use.
- Paper - "watercolor paper" 9 x 12 (Note this is special paper.  Regular paper will tear and a canvas will not absorb)
- Pencil and eraser
- 2 qty - Jars of water
- Paper towels or napkins
- Paintbrushes - Round or flat tip 
- Paint tray for watercolor mixing
- Paint - watercolor paints 

*Note that you will need to purchase a special paper labeled "Watercolor Paper" and "Watercolor Paints".  
**Artists are welcome to use markers or colored pencils if watercolor paints are not their thing!

*According to Outschool policy, all students need to be registered separately. If they are not, they are to be placed in the waiting room until the parent can make arrangements to register the extra learners or the teacher may refund them.  We understand the desire for friends or siblings to watch, but if two children are participating under one registration, they will be sent back to the waiting room per Outschool policy. One child per registration. It is acceptable for registered learners to share a screen!
