Are you ready to create a comic book with daring perspectives and explosive dialogues? This is a fun course that can jumpstart your comic book, so come prepared to have a blast while creating something unique and from your own perspective. In this class, students will create four really important scenarios which include creating an introduction or exposition, a major problem/goal that a character(s)has, an unexpected twist, and a resolution. You will be given a variety of different exercises that range from creating different perspectives to writing amazing dialogues:

Here is what each week will look like:

Week one: Brainstorming and character creation. At the beginning of the week on a Monday, I will post a video that will share examples of what I expect them to achieve. We will look at a few comic book character examples. perspectives. Students will be asked a specific set of questions which they will be required to answer in the comment box below through video or message. I will also post a video of the assignment which will be brainstorming and character creation for your comic book. In addition, students will be asked to post their characters with descriptions on an interactive board. They will also need to comment on other students' characters using a specific set of questions provided as well as their own questions. I will also post more images that relate to characters within different settings/perspectives. Students will be asked to create their own versions using their characters and post in the classroom for further comment and feedback. Finally, at the end of the week. They will be required to share their work through videos, be asked to share their process and even share some of their techniques. Students will receive detailed feedback through video. Students will also comment on the other student's comics.

Week two:
Create an introduction for your character(s). At the beginning of the week, I will post a video that will share examples of what I expect them to achieve. We will look at a few comic book examples with various introductions and the kinds of dialogues used in various situations. Students will be asked a specific set of questions which they will be required to answer in the comment box below through video or message. I will also post a video of the assignment which will be creating the introduction for the comic book.
We will also have a collaborative writing project whereby each student will write the dialogue for different parts of a comic. These will also be posted in the classroom and students will give feedback on the different parts of the dialogue. Finally, at the end of the week- they will hand in a minimum of two pages for their intro( they can write more if they like). They will be required to share their work through videos. They will also be asked to share their process and even share some of their techniques as well. Students will receive detailed feedback through video and will also comment on the other student's comics.

Week three:
Create a problem with unexpected twists and turns. At the beginning of the week, I will post a video that will share examples of what I expect them to achieve. We will look at a few comic book examples with various twists and turns, and various kinds of dialogues used in various situations. Students will be asked a specific set of questions which they will be required to answer in the comment box below through video or message. I will also post a video of the assignment which will be creating a problem for their story. Students will also be asked to post a drawing technique that they will share on an interactive board with other students. Students will give feedback to other students drawings and I will simultaneously check-in to comment on their work. Finally at the end of the week- they will hand in a minimum of two pages for that week's assignment. They will be required to share their work through videos. They will be asked to share their process and even share some of their techniques as well. Students will receive detailed feedback through video. Students will also comment on the other student's comics as well.

Week four:
Creating a resolution! At the beginning of the week, I will post a video that will share examples of what I expect them to achieve. We will look at a few comic book examples with various resolutions and various kinds of perspectives. Students will be asked a specific set of questions which they will be required to answer in the comment box below through video or message. I will also post a video of the assignment which will be creating resolution comic panels for their story. Students will also be asked to share different perspectives which they will share on an interactive board with other students. Students will give feedback to other students' drawings and I will simultaneously check in to comment on their work. At the end of the week- they will hand in a minimum of two pages for that week's assignment. They will be required to share their work through videos. They will be asked to share their process once more. Students will receive detailed feedback from me through video. Students will also comment on the other student's comics as well.

Feedback and Art criticism will be an essential part of this class, so students will need to post their work at the end of each week in order for any kind of meaningful discussion to happen. This will also allow students to grow and reflect on their work as artists. Throughout the week, students will be asked to post mini exercises in class. In addition, I will check in to answer any questions and give feedback during the week in the evenings. I look forward to having you in this class!

Hello there! I am passionate about teaching arts and craft to students between the ages of 6 - 11.
I have worked with youth for 9 years and my experience includes teaching English as a Second Language online and working in after-school programs. I have taught on a number of online tutoring platforms, such as Vipkid and Qkids. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing students progress from saying short phrases to full sentences and finally, to having full-blown conversations.
Additionally, I have also taught at a YMCA after school program where I planned various activities including arts and crafts. Activities included paper crafts, step-by-step fantasy drawings, animal-life drawings, paper-crafts puppets and other engaging projects! I believe that should be engaged, excited and follow their curiosities. My approach is very hands-on and interactive!

I completed a Bachelor of fine arts in visual arts at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College where I explored different mediums such as drawing, sculpture and performance art. During this period, drawing and sculpture was a major focus. I delved into different drawing techniques specifically related to the human body. I also explored sculpture using materials such as wood, ceramics and metal. I would love to teach these skills to students from all over the world! I believe in providing a creative environment where they can flourish.
In addition, I completed a Bachelors' degree in English Literature with a minor in Anthropology. I also received some credits for French. This degree has afforded me a number of skills including critical thinking, essay writing and creative writing. These skills will help me to communicate with students at all levels.

In my spare time, l am a bookworm, who loves listening to audio-books or reading books. This has been a life long hobby that began 25 years ago. Moreover, I love cooking, learning new languages and about other cultures as well! I am also very adventurous, I have done skiing on some of the great Canadian slopes on the east side!
