Join us for an in-depth exploration into the world of filmmaking in this comprehensive 16-week, 32-lesson course. This course is designed for creatives eager to explore every aspect of the cinematic process, from storytelling and screenwriting to production and post-production. Participants will be led by Kate, a professional filmmaker and educator, through the components listed in the syllabus. This course promises to be both engaging and enlightening. The journey begins with an intro to film, where students gain an understanding of film history and foundational concepts. We’ll then explore the art of storytelling and a thorough exploration of screenwriting through a series of progressive lessons, ensuring that students can craft compelling narratives. Participants will engage in peer review sessions to refine their scripts before moving into the production phase. Here, they will learn about cinematography, directing, and acting, while also mastering the technical skills needed for successful film production. As the course progresses, students will transition into the magical world of post-production, where they will hone their editing skills over multiple sessions, ensuring their final cuts are polished and enjoyable for audiences. We’ll also cover marketing strategies to help students understand how to promote their films effectively. The course culminates in an exciting two-session (it could be one depending on the number of learners in class and the length of each film) film festival, where each participant will debut their final film, showcasing their hard work and creativity. Join us for this immersive and dynamic course to unlock your filmmaking potential and create cinematic masterpieces. This course is a wonderful mix of creativity, writing, technical skills, and so much more.
