Because of how detailed these drawings are, there is a good chance students will need to finish their work outside of the designated class time.Evaluación
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and/or sharing of drawings.Experiencia de clase
In this ongoing animal colored pencil and drawing class, students will learn to draw a variety of Canadian animals (grizzly bear, beaver, orca/killer whale, puffin, moose, and bison). Please note that since this is an ongoing course, students can enroll or withdraw at any time. Each scheduled meeting will be spent drawing ONE animal and learning different colored pencil/pencil sketching techniques. Students do not need to be enrolled in previous weeks of this class to be successful. Please check the weekly break-down below for specific learning goals, scheduled classes, and needed supplies of each class. For every class, I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and students is encouraged and a great place for students to make lasting friendships. I ask students questions throughout the lesson to check for student understanding and increase engagement. Students may interact with each other if they want to share what they learn during class. Students who enroll in this class should have basic drawing skills, like drawing and manipulating shapes with a pencil. Week of July 9 - 15: Grizzly Bear (Pencil Sketch) 1. Students will learn techniques to sketch a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a grizzly bear (face), using pencil. 2. Students will learn techniques to blend, apply, and layer pencil. 3. Students will learn techniques to create the illusion of thick fur, using pencil and an eraser. 4. Students will learn techniques to create detailed fur texture, using a pencil. 5. Students will learn a few facts about grizzly bears. Week of July 16 - 22: Beaver (Colored Pencil) 1. Students will learn techniques to sketch a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a beaver (full body). 2. Students will learn techniques to create wood and fur texture, using colored pencil. 4. Students will learn a few facts about beavers. Week of July 23 - 29: Orca/Killer Whale (Pencil Sketch) 1. Students will learn techniques to sketch a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of an orca, using pencil (full body). 2. Art Teacher 🎨 / Middle Grade Fantasy Author 📚/ Children's Book Illustrator 🐉
✨Welcome to my teacher page! ✨
After graduating with Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, I decided to make the leap of starting my author and illustrator career. Since then, I have written and illustrated my first middle grade fantasy book, Brush of Magic, with many more in the works!
Along with running my own art and book shop, I design and teach a variety of drawing and painting classes, ranging from realistic sketching, watercolor painting, fantasy drawing, and illustration. I have taught for about 9 years, 4 of which have been specific to art. I love the time I get to spend with my students, creating art, and chatting about books—especially if the books and art are whimsical or magical!
All the artwork, books, and stationary designs in my shop are created by me. I often find inspiration for my art and books through reading, spending time with my cats and dogs, and brainstorming imaginary creatures in my sketchbook.
Thank you for stopping by! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am always happy to help.😊
