In this class, we will dive into the world of fourth grader Peter Hatcher and his brother, Fudge!

2x per week we will meet, read aloud and discuss core reading skills as well as vocabulary, reading comprehension, story retell, and multiple choice strategies in a fun and engaging way!

Near the end of this course, we will incorporate persuasive writing, project based learning, and an end of book test.

Students WILL need to purchase Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, by Judy Blume, and will need paper and pencils for homework. I will be posting homework for the week each Sunday evening and they can print it or simply copy down the answers on another sheet of paper. Homework will consist of a few multiple choice questions and 1-2 short answers. This will not be time intensive. 

Students should be reading at a 3rd grade reading level to participate in this class, though you may assist during off camera hours if they are not quite there.

After this book/course is complete, we will continue our book club with the following titles:

As this course draws to a close, I will post the next one as well as open new sections for the previous books. My goal is to create several cohorts of book club members that is ongoing. Because this is a book club, as well as an academic course, it is the perfect summer activity, year round ELA support, as well as a way to foster a love of reading in a relaxed yet educational environment.
