In this class we will explore the job of a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. We will discuss the way they decide if an animal needs help and if that help is best given by a rehabber, or if it should be left alone. A variety of species will be touched on and how the rehabber may assess them. This class also stresses the importance of not picking up wild animals without the direction of a trained rehabilitation or veterinarian. This is NOT a class that will teach learners how to care for orphaned or injured wild animals. That is done in rehabber training courses as an adult. This course will however give learners a perspective of what a rehabber does to determine the care that is needed, how they work closely with a veterinarian and the time and dedication that this, often volunteer, career requires.
Metas de aprendizaje

Orientación para padres
This course will address that there are wild animals that may be too badly injured or too young to survive even with the best attempts by a rehabilitator to care for them. This may be upsetting to some learners. Please be sure that your learner is ready for that knowledge prior to enrolling in this class.
Short YouTube video clips of rehab and rehab success stories may be shown in class or safely embedded carefully selected videos may be posted in the classroom for further learning.
