Tareas
1-2 horas por semana. I will provide feedback on any comprehension questions that are submitted during the 8 weeks of class. During that time, I will also answer any questions you have about what we're learning and provide suggestions for additional resources on topics you want to explore further.
Certificado de finalización
I will provide a certificate of completion to any student who completes all assigned learning and turns in age-appropriate (or ability-appropriate) answers to all comprehension questions.
Calificación
If a student wants a letter describing their performance in the class, they should: --put real effort into answering the comprehension questions and make sure that your answers show that an age-appropriate level of thought was put in to the class --not turn in work completed by AI --be curious and ask questions about what you're learning that show that you're thinking --follow up on any questions you asked by exploring additional resources I might provide to answer those questions to show that you are actually curious, not just creating more work for me in order to look like you're interested (yeah, I see through it...) I will not waste your time or mine by writing a letter that merely indicates that you did the bare minimum.

🎓Master Human Anatomy with a Medical Expert
(not sure what level to choose? scroll to the bottom of the course description)

Do you ever get frustrated that you can't find out all the details of how the human body REALLY works? How do the valves in the heart keep the blood moving forward? How do the kidneys make urine? Why are there so many blood vessels coming in and out of the heart and what are their names? How are your different organs connected?

🎉These lessons will teach you what REALLY happens and HOW and WHY because they are taught by a real doctor!

🎉You can also ask ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. In fact, answering questions is the best part of being a doctor because the training to be a doctor means knowing the real answers.

👉This is the first part of a three-part series designed to provide a comprehensive overview of human anatomy. The next two parts are in production right now and will be available later in the fall of 2024. All three use the same coloring book and together will complete every topic in the book.

Medical students use anatomy coloring books to learn and so will you! Every drawing was designed and drawn to teach specific anatomical concepts and contain the correct amount of information for a young scientist.

While the coloring book stands alone as a valuable learning resource, your student has the unique opportunity to discover everything that Dr. Robin intended students at this level to learn. Enroll now and embark on a fascinating journey into human biology as it's taught by a world expert in educating young people about the body.

❓ Why Learn from a Physician? ❓

As a physician, I can approach the subject as an expert and teach in a way that helps you think deeply about how the body actually works instead of just memorizing random facts. This gives you a solid foundation for building more knowledge as you get older. I have taught these same lessons to my medical students to help them learn to THINK instead of MEMORIZE. It has often never occurred to them that the human body is logical and it can be a gamechanger when it's time to add more complex information.

✅ Anatomy in Context: Focus on how each organ works with the rest of the body to keep you alive and healthy.
✅ Logical Thinking: Develop a systematic way to figure out anatomical structures and their relationships.
✅ Expert Instruction: Learn from a medical professional with firsthand knowledge of human anatomy.
✅ Effective Retention: Employ proven memory techniques to solidify your understanding.

❓What to Expect from this course❓

For each lesson you will:
✅ Watch recorded lesson from me (approximately 20 minutes)
✅ Color a page from the anatomy book
✅ Review the notes
✅ Watch a video to extend the topic into the real world (this is from YouTube and is not included in the total minutes of video time listed by Outschool... That total only includes my recorded lessons)
✅ Answer comprehension questions

❓More details about these items ❓

Each topic includes a recorded lesson of approximately 20 minutes in which I work through the details of the anatomy and physiology of the specific organ. You'll learn the structure and function as well as how it fits into the bigger picture of the human body.

We'll color the drawing in the book. You can choose whether to color the unlabeled or labeled version. Some students prefer to leave the unlabeled version blank to use for studying/review later.

The book also has a notes page with a summary of main points and includes mnemonics or other memory devices that I will have gone over in the lesson.

After learning the anatomy, you will watch a video I've chosen that takes the topics into the real world.

After completing the recorded lesson, coloring your page, and watching the video, you'll answer several questions that bring together what you've learned. You can turn in the comprehension questions to me each week for feedback.

❓How to Choose the Correct Level ❓

This class is available at three different levels.

🎓Ages 6-11: https://outschool.com/classes/lets-color-anatomy-part-1-heart-kidneys-and-more-V36xLLEJ
👉The lessons in this level are around 10 minutes long.
👉This is a good level for learners in this age range with no prior knowledge about the human body beyond general knowledge for this age. They might know that their heart pumps their blood or that their stomach digests their food. They might not know the path of food through their body, what the kidneys do, or the difference between arteries and nerves.
👉If your child is too young to care that the blood needs to go forward and not backward or that water needs to leave your body so that you don't become "a human water balloon" then you should check out some of the other amazing classes on Outschool that are meant as a first introduction.
👉Discussion questions in this level are appropriate for elementary aged students.
👉If they already have a good idea of what all their organs do and want to learn more in-depth information such as details about heart valves and the names of specific blood vessels, you should choose the next level regardless of your child's age.

🎓Ages 9-14:
👉The lessons in this level are around 20 minutes long.
👉This is a good level for learners in this age range who are ready to dig in to each topic in more detail. Younger learners in this age range should only choose this level if they are ready for lessons that are 20 minutes in length and include more details such as the specific names of blood vessels.
👉Each lesson includes a video from YouTube that extends the learning on the topic. The videos in this level are chosen to appeal to a middle school audience. If your learner takes themselves seriously, you should consider the next level up as the lessons are the same.
👉Discussion questions in this level require a student to be able to think more deeply about what they are learning and might involve comparing, contrasting, predicting, analyzing, or applying information.

🎓Ages 14-18: https://outschool.com/classes/pre-med-anatomy-learn-from-a-physician-part-1-heart-kidneys-more-FuCkUIe8
👉The lessons in this level are around 20 minutes long.
👉This is a good level for learners in this age range who have no prior knowledge about the human body beyond general knowledge for this age.
👉This is ALSO a good level for students who want a review or solid foundation during or before taking AP Anatomy and Physiology. I have taught these same lessons to my medical students to help them learn to THINK instead of MEMORIZE. It has often never occurred to them that the human body is logical and it can be a gamechanger when it's time to add more complex information.
👉Each lesson includes a video from YouTube that extends the learning on the topic. The videos in this level are chosen to appeal to a high school audience.
👉Discussion questions in this level require a student to be able to think more deeply about what they are learning and might involve comparing, contrasting, predicting, analyzing, or applying information. I will generally expect a longer answer and a more in-depth response than in the other levels but will happily adjust expectations if you let me know about any learning needs or differences.

Necesidades de aprendizaje
Please message me so I can support your learner's needs. As a physician and as a mom of kids with learning needs, I am able to suggest a number of adjustments to make sure your student has a great experience!
Orientación para padres
Nothing in this class will be or is intended to be medical advice. This is merely educational in nature and will be a surface-level overview. Your student will not be coming out of this class knowing anything about how to diagnose or treat these conditions and we will not be discussing any personal medical questions/needs. Students should come with general questions about the topic.
Requisitos previos
This is the first course in a series of three that will cover the entire anatomy coloring book. Students will enjoy this class if they are ready for a "real" anatomy class that goes more in-depth into the details of each organ and system.
