All the systems of the human body will be taught in detail. Most students take this course after they have completed Biology and Chemistry. Most students are juniors or seniors in high school.

The reason the prerequisites are important is that they will help the student to understand the physiology of each system better. For example, the symbols PO4, Ca, and NO3 may be mentioned. If the student doesn't know any Chemistry, this may be unclear to them. However, there are exceptions to any rule, I will consider a parent's opinion if they think their child can handle it.
My class begins with a review of all homework, then a video, and then lectures over complicated concepts.

My style of teaching is through auditory and visual learning. I will use manipulatives if it makes things easier to understand. An example of a visual lesson is using crayons, paper, and tape to make a model of the muscle layers.
We will use sketch pads to depict what we see on microscopic slides. Microscopes are not required for this class.
Venn diagrams will help students compare and contrast some intricacies found in various systems.
                                                                   NO TEXTBOOK IS REQUIRED.
                                                                 Students will be using online resources.
                                                        Everything a student reads or views, will be online.
* Certain topics may take more time to teach. I have designated which mods may need two lessons. If I see that students have a grasp of the information, I may or may not use that time for that mod.

CREDIT OR ENRICHMENT
What's the difference? 'Credit' means it will go towards your high school transcript. I am a TX-certified teacher. The student will receive a certificate of completion because you've completed all the homework required every week. The student will receive a numerical grade at the end of the course.
     Whereas, 'enrichment' means you are just taking it to learn more about your well-being. Students who take it as an enrichment will receive a certificate of participation and do some or none of the homework. No numerical grade will be distributed to students who are taking it as enrichment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EVALUATION of the course is based on homework being turned in and class participation when we review homework during class time. This allows students to check their homework and ask questions. All homework is to be turned in to their private Outschool email. Homework can be submitted by taking pics and uploading them to the Outschool student email. All assignments are submitted chronologically, so there are no discrepancies regarding whether work was turned in. There are NO TESTS. I assess by oral questions and homework submissions only.
Otros detalles
Orientación para padres
Students will be exposed to various preserved specimens (sheep's eye, heart and rabbit lung, etc. ) and medical terminology that the endocrine and reproductive system will cover. Students will also be viewing videos on Youtube to better understand various bodily functions an anatomical parts. CK-12 will be the class reference text used for reading assignments and answering worksheets.
Requisitos previos
When taking this course, students should have already taken Biology and Chemistry. This course is an advanced biology course that focuses on the human body. A student needs to be self-motivated and able to stay on task.
Lista de útiles escolares
I will give the students a heads up as to when they will need the supplies for a lab. These labs may or may not be done in class time. However, the lab must be done to fill the requirement for the course.
These are short and safe labs for students to better understand the physiology of the body.
