In this one time class we will read passages from the picture book I Love you the Purplest by: Barbara M. Joosse together in class. We will notice and discuss the author’s use of sensory language and how she uses colors to represent emotions. Next, students will write their own poem about someone they love following the author's style. I will write along with the students and share my writing so that students will feel comfortable sharing. Students will encourage one another by sharing their work and commenting on what they like about the writing paying close attention to the sensory language being used. SPECIAL NOTE: The writing created by your child in this class would make a perfect gift for the special person in their life that they choose to write about!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my profile! I love learning and I love to inspire kids to get excited about learning! I have a degree in Psychology and I am certified to teach both English and English as a Second Language. I have been teaching for fifteen years. I taught middle school English, Reading, and Creative Writing in the public school system for eight years, and I have been homeschooling my two daughters for eight years. I have been teaching online for four years and I love it! My writing has been featured in Seeing the Everyday magazine.
I strive to make my classroom an inviting, safe, and happy place where all learners can grow. My goal is to offer a well-rounded Language Arts program taught in a fun and encouraging environment. I teach a variety of classes focusing on reading comprehension, writing, poetry, and oral language skills. I also offer one on one tutoring as well. I have something to meet the needs of all types of learners! I even have life skills classes and some fun pet classes where we learn how to care for bunnies, cats, gerbils, and hamsters! I can’t wait to meet your child!
When I am not teaching, I love to read, write, research best practices of teaching, crochet, play board games with my family, and take family vacations to learn more about nature, science, and history. You can often find me reading a book on time management or how to organize and clean your home more effectively! I love learning! Let's learn and have fun together!
