Class Experience

The learner will receive instruction in spelling and constructing sentences to be applied to written work.  The learner will also receive instruction in the area of language fluency by developing written work, in paragraph format, with a topic, body and conclusion. The learner will create a written work through the stages of pre-writing, draft, edit, revision and publish. The number of paragraphs and length of each paragraph will scaffold as the learner's skills progress. 

This is a private pre-determined tutoring package with dates on:

March 6th, 13th, 27th

Classes meet on:
Mondays, 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm, EST 

Individual tutoring sessions are not based on levels, but specific areas where learners are developing a skill, require intervention or are ready for an extension of skills in the construction of written work.  

WRITING PROCESS
Your learner's individualized lesson will be based on the stages of pre-writing.  Learners will brainstorm using a web, construct a draft on an organization aid and transfer information into a paragraph.  Learners will be guided through the stages of brainstorm, draft, edit - revise and publish.  Areas of Mechanics include capitalization, punctuation and spelling and areas of Language include fluency of sentence development.  As progress is made, when demonstrated, additional written language skills will be guided (i.e., comma placement, transitions, etc.)

PHONICS
You learner will also receive instruction in the area of phonics, to be applied to spelling and sentence construction.  Phonic and spelling rules will be emphasized with the direct application with spelling rules and and words, with the expectation of using strategies to spell when constructing sentences during the draft stage of writing.

Learning Goals

The learner will develop skills of written language to include areas of mechanics (phonic/spelling emphasis) and written language fluency and progress to an independent level in pre-writing stages of the writing process.
