This class will support elementary-aged students with extra practice in grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills. I will teach the grade-level academic standards appropriate for a child's age, considering their current skill level mastery. Grammar and vocabulary practice, along with the writing process that includes paragraph structure, sentence variety, writing a solid introduction and ending, and adding relevant details will be taught. Different writing genres will be explored including narrative, persuasive, opinion, and informative. **Feel free to message me specific skills to practice and times that work with your schedule.

Hello, my name is Kathleen Bernath Jenkins and I am a recently retired elementary public school teacher in Missouri. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in differentiated instructional methods. Most recently, I have taught fourth-grade students the core academic skills: reading, grammar, writing, math, science, and social studies.
I have a passion for teaching children the skills needed for them to be successful citizens. I believe all children can achieve success at school by differentiating instructional methods, which allows for individual growth and expression. My approach to teaching is to focus on best practices, those proven to be successful across all educational settings: teacher modeling and interaction with students, setting clear objectives at the start of each lesson, encouraging group participation, and debriefing together at the close of a lesson.
