*Valid from 11/1/2022 to 11/30/2022.

Motivate students to practice writing with high-interest themes! Students in this class learn how scientist Charles Darwin came up with the theory of Evolution. The first part of class includes an interactive slide presentation and class discussion. Then, students to take on the role of Darwin, imagining his thoughts and experiences as he travels around South America on the H.M.S Beagle. Students write a letter home to Darwin's wife, Emma (or a friend or colleague), detailing some of his scientific discoveries along with his personal experience.

We'll move through the stages of the writing process from pre-writing to proofreading and sharing our work. Student may also choose to submit their writing to me after class so I can give feedback. Feedback focuses on students' strengths in order to build confidence and motivation.
