Class Experience

In this fun and engaging class for Preschool aged children, we will use interactive activities by creating a person with bones (straws to represent them) and without. This will spark a discussion regarding why we need our bones and how strong bones enable our bodies to move! Students will learn to label and identify our 10 largest bones both through using their clay models but also through an interactive activity with the teacher and other students. Students will be encouraged and shown how to craft their own models of the skeletal system using straws, and clay in order to experiment with our bones.
Students will interact with the teacher and each other throughout activities and will be encouraged to ask questions.

Parents please note: It is recommended that you cut the straws in half or in thirds for your learner prior to class in order to minimize scissor use throughout class.

Learning Goals

Students will learn the importance of our bones and be able to identify our 10 largest bones. Additionally, students will gain and understanding of the basic components of our our skeletal system and why our bones are so important in allowing us to move and have fun! By the end of the class, students will be able to identify and label our 10 largest bones as well as demonstrate in a hands on fashion the importance of our bodies bones!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Please ensure that you either cut the straws in half or in thirds in advance of class or are able to directly supervisor your child throughout the class while they build their playdough person with bones if they will be using scissors.
Supply List
In order to make your own skeleton and practicing learning about bones in a hands on way students will require straws (2 or 3) and clay or something similar. However, if your student doesn't not have the required materials they are still welcome to join the class and follow along with my demonstrations!

Please note depending on the length of your straws they will likely need to be cut in half or in thirds. Please ensure to cut the straws for your learner prior to class.
