"But perhaps the most important lesson I learned is that there are no walls between humans and the elephants except those we put up ourselves, and that until we allow not only elephants, but all living creatures their place in the sun, we can never be whole ourselves." ~ Lawrence Anthony Welcome to Ms. Jodi's Waldorf Classroom! Step into a world of wonder and discovery! This class offers your child a relaxed, inspiring space to develop analytical skills while experiencing the essence of an elite Waldorf education at home. In this class, we’ll embark on an exciting journey to uncover the Secrets of the Elephants documentary series. Each week, students will watch an episode (parent access required—details in the guidance section) and answer thought-provoking discussion questions. In class, we’ll share our reflections, read a captivating book about elephants, and create beautiful sketches inspired by our studies. We’ll conclude each session with journaling, giving students the chance to express what they’ve learned and how they’ve connected with these magnificent creatures. Join us for this unique exploration of elephants, fostering curiosity, compassion, and creativity! Students will need a blank sketchpad (at least 8.5x11) and colored pencils for this class.
Learning Goals
Understand and discuss key themes, including communication, survival strategies, and social behavior of elephants.
Develop critical thinking and observation skills through guided discussions, reflective journaling, and creative sketching activities.
