Welcome to Ms. Jodi's Library! In this class, we will deeply enter into the study and research of animals. Students will find the behaviors, habitats, enemies, and adaptations that make each animal unique. Research will be teacher-led in the classroom and students may also chose to do outside research on their own animals of their choice. Once we have our research, we will then begin the amazing task of using our animal research to write a report of our own. We will discuss the structure of a report and how to write a good introduction and conclusion. This is a highly scaffolded, engaging class for exciting research and report writing! We will create covers, drawings, and report pages so please provide a sketchpad 9x12 or main lesson book with colored pencils.
Learning Goals
Students will create a report with a cover, drawing, and several paragraphs of report writing.
Students will work on crafting amazing introductions and conclusions.

Learning Needs
This is a highly supported, scaffolded, and visual class for unique learners. Many students will schedule a private writing session if a student needs more writing support.
Parental Guidance
Students will be given access to my Epic library with parent permission in order to find books to research the animal of their choice. I will include instructions on accessing my Epic library (it's free and no personal information shared) in the classroom the first week of class. This is not required as students may also use books from home to do their research, if you prefer. Students will need access to Epic or their books for our second class research time together.
