In this self paced class, students will learn the basics of how to play the piano through scales, rhythms, common songs, and popular songs. Week 1 - Students will learn the layout of the piano, how to sit at the piano, finger numbers, high and low sounds of the piano, and how to find middle C. Students will be asked to record themselves playing a "middle C jam". Week 2 - Students will learn the musical alphabet and how to name all of the keys of the piano. Today, we will learn how to play a few common songs using the piano keys. Students will interact with the teacher and other learners through a Kahoot! Quiz about the musical alphabet. Week 3 - This week we will learn about rhythms! We'll talk about quarter notes, whole notes, and half notes and practice playing a song that uses all these rhythms. Students will interact with other students and the teacher by posting a video of themselves playing a practice assignment. Week 4 - This week we will learn how to play a C-5 finger scale and the chorus of the song "Cups" by Anna Kendrick using notes and rhythms that we have learned. We will also learn how to play root notes on the left hand along with "Cups". Students will interact with classmates and the teacher through a musical listening scavenger hunt! ------- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Q: What kind of piano will work for this course?
