Join our girls social club with Ms. Katie where we will hang out and have fun all while getting more comfortable talking to new people, improving our social skills, communicating with others, and getting out of our shells to share with the group. This will be a very welcoming course where students will be encouraged to participate, but if they are not feeling up to it, that is perfectly ok! Some of the best friend groups are made up of all different personalities, and our goal is to create friendships while providing a social situation where everyone can blossom and benefit. These sessions will be a safe space for learners to share without being judged. We will start with teacher led discussions and then the students will have the opportunity to open up the discussion to different topics. This will be a great environment for sharing ideas and goals and getting comfortable in a group setting. Each session will have some topics for discussion posted before each class. Some examples are: What is your favorite book and why? What is one thing you could do all day long and not get tired of? What is your favorite hobby and how did you learn how to do it? The first couple sessions will focus on the following: Week of June 5: Introductions and Fun Facts Week of June 12: Let's Talk about Hobbies Week of June 19: Books and Buddies Week of June 26: What Types of Food Do You Like? Week of July 3: If You Could Travel Anywhere in the World Each week will be a different discussion question similar to these. As time goes on, we will go back through some of these topics such as hobbies, where we will have time to share and talk about what we've been doing or creating outside of class. Each class will focus on a different discussion question, and I will post the discussion questions before each session. This group is all inclusive to all learners and no learner will be turned away based on race, sex, gender, nationality, ethnicity, physical ability, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or socioeconomic status. Any inappropriate language or behavior will be monitored and discussed with the learner and parents/guardians.
