Are you looking for a class to help your little one build and strengthen their communication skills? Teaching young children how to converse is a skill that will help them in the years to come and that's why I created this class. Having taught for 17 years in the classroom as well as three and a half years on Outschool, I am excited to work with your learner on how to engage with others in a fun and positive way. As a mom of 4 young children, I know how important it is to develop these oral language skills. Learning how to take turns speaking, practice active listening, make eye contact and speak up are important for little learners. Whether you have a child that loves to talk or one that may need a boost of encouragement, this class is designed to help your child have fun conversing and engage through show and tell. Given my passion and expertise in reading and writing, I have designed the course to incorporate a variety of activities that will promote a multitude of skills. Each week, we'll begin with a song or rhyme to welcome all of our learners. Having worked with early learners for many years, they love to engage in songs and rhymes! We will then have a weekly topic that serves as the basis for our conversation. Often times learners will be invited to bring along an object to share (see schedule) to help promote our sharing and listening skills. Being an ongoing class, you can join anytime as content does not build. Each week is sure to be a way to help your child love to interact and share with others! Week 1 - Stuffed Animals Bring along your favorite stuffed animal/plush. Week 2 - Let's Draw Bring paper and coloring supplies as we draw and then share about our pictures. Week 3 - Book Bring along your favorite story to share with us! Week 4 - Letter Scavenger Hunt You won't need anything but we'll do an activity with the alphabet and a scavenger hunt with objects you have around your home. Week 5 - Favorite Toy Bring along a toy you like to play with. Week 6 - Family Bring along a picture (or you can bring a drawing you make) of your family as we share about our families. Week 7 - Favorite Animal Guessing Game Week 8 - Dress Up Dress up in a costume or favorite outfit to tell us about your dress up clothes. Week 9 - Ocean Animal Sorting Week 10 - A favorite Trip/Vacation Week 11 - Favorite Game Bring along your favorite game (board game, card game, video game) Week 12 - All About Me Week 13 - Nature Bring along something you can find in nature. Week 14 - Opposites Week 15 - Look at What I Made Bring along something you have made and we'll have a display of all the wonderful things we've made. We will make something too! Week 16 Story Sequence We'll use story cards to help create a story together! If you do not see a section that is conducive to your schedule, please message me as I try my best to accommodate schedule requests.

Teacher expertise and credentials
As an experienced and licensed elementary teacher, I am excited to meet your child to help cultivate their conversation and social skills. No matter the grade or subject material I teach, I really value students' interactions and their abilities to express themselves. I want to help your learner become a confident speaker and equip them great listening skills. Knowing how to engage with others and interact through conversation is a skill that will last a lifetime. Through my most current work as a school librarian, I love to captivate students through songs, books, and activities and you'll find my energetic personality holds their attention. As a mom of four young children, I can not express how important it is to be a good listener, ask questions, and advocate for yourself. These are all skills you can expect to find when you join my chat club. I can't wait to work with your learner!
