Class Experience
Early literacy sets the foundation for future success in reading. In this one-on-one format, I will tailor lessons to meet your child's needs, and gather informed data about your child's progress through assessments and observations. Based on the Science of Teaching Reading, this systematic, explicit, and research-backed approach combines decades of data taken all around the world on how our brains learn to read. Learn from a certified teacher in a fun and interactive virtual environment, and set a schedule that words for you. Based on your child's needs, we will cover topics such as: - Pre-reading skills - Environmental print awareness - Tracking - Distinguishing between a letter, sound, syllable, word, and sentence - Letter naming - Matching sounds with their spelling rule - Open, Closed, and Vowel-Consonent-e Syllables - Applying learned sounds and spelling patterns to read and write words - Kindergarten high-frequency words - Consonant digraphs and blends - Rhyming - Counting syllables in words, and words in sentences - Changing sounds in words to make new words - Deleting and adding sounds to words to create new words - Writing a simple sentence with proper spelling, capital letters, spaces, and ending punctuation - Reading decodable texts for comprehension and fluency
Learning Goals
Learning goals will be determined based on your child's age, your learning goals, and developmentally appropriate milestones in learning how to read. These goals will be constantly monitored, tracked, and adjusted to suite your child's progress.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Mrs. Alex, and I am an Early Childhood Educator. After earning my Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood through Sixth Grade education, I spent four years teaching Kindergarten, and have certifications in English as a Second Language, and the Science of Teaching Reading. I am excited to bring the Science of Teaching Reading to my students. This is the culmination of decades-long research on how the brain learns to read, with a 95% success rate in ALL learners.
I bring the Science of Teaching Reading, as well as social-emotional learning, inquiry mindset, and critical thinking to all of my classes. These skills are essential to promoting independence and confidence in young readers, and establishing a life-long love of learning.
