Class Experience

Hey there potential parents and learners! In this interactive and fun class, we will be meeting each day of the week for 30 minutes to have a morning meeting/circle time style class! Each meeting, we will have an interactive daily topic that will incorporate brainstorming, sharing, and sometimes writing. We will also discuss character traits as a group, have a daily math and reading skill specific to third grade, incorporate a calendar time, and also get to know each other with introductions every day!

We will cover a range of topics in math and reading, as well as have movement and a question of the day at the beginning of the class to address specific life skills.

Every Day of the week for each topic taught will be “Make it Monday”, “True Life Tuesday”, “Weigh In Wednesday”, “Once Upon a Thursday”, and “Free Write Friday”.
An example of a week with specific skills:
Week 1:Math - Multiplication skills, Reading - Fiction
Week 2: Math - Multiplication skills, Reading - Fiction
Week 3: Math - Fraction skills, Reading - Non-Fiction
Week 4: Math - Fraction skills, Reading - Non-Fiction
The only supplies needed from week to week, as stated below, are only a dry erase marker and a dry erase board.

I am a very hands on teacher and understand that while children learn content from me, they also learn from each other! I also very much love forming relationships with my students and know that relationships allow for the learning to begin and also continue! I love to model new content being taught so that my learners can visually see the new content being taught - this will allow them to understand more specifically what I am teaching.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Teaching is one of my passions, and I am so excited to be able to share my passion through this platform!

As an experienced and current classroom teacher, I have an Undergraduate degree in English Literature with a minor in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee Knoxville as well as a Masters degree in Teacher Education specializing in Urban Multicultural Education.

I have taught both Kindergarten and Third Grade for a total of 7 years, but I have experience with all ages of elementary school through 6th grade. I absolutely love all of the content for elementary and plan to gage my classes to be geared to engaging children with sight words, letter and sound recognition, number words, color words, multiplication facts, fractions, fiction and nonfiction book studies, and much more! There’s so much joy I find in the content of elementary curriculum, and it sets the foundation for an incredible journey of learning!

I have the strong belief that children learn their absolute best through building strong relationships and develop the love of learning through engaging lessons and activities. I love it when students begin to understand a new topic or the light bulb comes on! I know that as a teacher I am also a lifelong learner, and I love being able to learn new things each and every day.

I have a love of fitness and overall wellness! I hope to someday develop classes geared towards overall health, eating habits, and wellness for children as it is something I am passionate about and am continuing to also learn more about each day!

My husband and I had our first child, Connor, in May 2020, and we are loving the new parent life!
