Class Experience

***PLEASE READ!*** This one-time class is part 2 of my 3-part Magical World of Fungi class series. In order to understand the material in this class, it is a requirement to please take my prior class first, titled The Magical World of Fungi: The Life Cycle and Parts of a Mushroom.

This class will cover the world of mushrooms more in-depth. We will learn about the key factors to pay attention to when identifying wild mushrooms, as well as procedures for harvesting. We'll explore the many diverse and strange ways that mushrooms can look, and how we can tell them apart. I will also share some fun facts about the Fungi Kingdom, bringing a sense of awareness and wonder for these amazing life forms. Please have paper and drawing materials ready, as we will be drawing and taking some simple notes!

Hello! My name is Samantha and I am passionate about connecting with others and creating community through learning. I have been a teacher (pre-K through 12) at both in-person homeschooling co-ops as well as online platforms for over six years now, and I absolutely love any topics related to the environment, biology, nature sciences, art, and yoga/mindfulness/meditation. I especially believe in the power of art as a way of processing and learning information, so many of my classes are a fusion of science/biology + art.

It is very important to me that learning should be interesting and FUN! I focus on interactive classes from a large range of topics that are discussion-based, engaging, and cater to every student's needs. I have a large toolbox of methods and ideas that I use to help each student feel comfortable, safe to explore their curiosity, and connected to their learning experience.

I have a Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology as well as a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Sciences, and my passion is to share my love for the world, humanity, and this Earth with our youth. They are our future! I know that during these trying times, it is important that our children continue to learn about the world and connect with others. It is my hope to create an online community of creativity, curiosity, and connection together. Technology is a wonderful thing, and I am grateful for this platform to share and learn virtually!
