Most of the class will focus on defining words in the LGBTQIA+ acronym, as well as other words related to the LGBT+ community - such as pronouns. We will end with a discussion of what allyship is and how we can use the information that we learned. There will be lecture and discussion components of this class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I received a graduate certificate for women's and gender studies. During this, I taught an upper level women's and gender studies course which focused on sexuality. I am passionate about gender studies and the LGBT+ movement and focused on it as a part of my master's thesis, which focused on identity language usage in the LGBT+ community. I have also created educational content and events that relate to LGBT+ history. I bring a sociological lens to discussions about gender and sexuality, as well as an emphasis in the importance of recognizing history. In addition to this academic background, I also have experience teaching younger children. So, I can take some larger concepts and bring it to the level that they are at and show them how it can apply to their lives.
