What Topics Will be Taught? All topics with a detailed description, are listed in the syllabus for week-by-week information. How is your class structured? While I do love us using PowerPoints, this is far from a lecture style class. I give students the opportunity to develop critical thinking through open-ended questions and discussion. I will present the week’s topic while working with the students to ensure understanding.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the meaning of biodiversity and how it impacts marine life.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a strong knowledge of marine biology through many animal science classes. I have also developed a curriculum that aligns with Next Generation Science Standards. This curriculum has been used with several middle schoolers and has been very successful.
When I was younger, I volunteered at an aquarium where I learned several things about marine life. One of my most important takeaways was conservation efforts that I learned from a conservation advocate. I would also participate as a leader for monthly youth nights where children of different ages came to learn about the animals through exciting enrichment activities.
