The Aqua Avengers of the Ocean: Marine Biology Course for Ages 10-15
In this 12 week course, we will cover topics such as biodiversity, ocean environments, marine organisms, and human interactions with aquatic life. Students will join me on some virtual field trips, while we explore life under the sea.

What Topics Will be Taught? All topics with a detailed description, are listed in the syllabus for week-by-week information. How is your class structured? While I do love us using PowerPoints, this is far from a lecture style class. I give students the opportunity to develop critical thinking through open-ended questions and discussion. I will present the week’s topic while working with the students to ensure understanding.

In this lesson, you will learn about different types of coral and how they affect the aquatic ecosystem. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
The Parasitic Enemies of the Sea
In this class, you will learn about some of the parasites that can infect fish and other species. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
The Creatures of the Deep Sea
In this class, you will be learning about the deepest sea creatures. For instance, angler fish can stick to the bottom of the ocean and blob fish can bob along the seabed. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
The World of Fish
In this class, you will learn about fish anatomy and fish behavior in some different species. You will also learn about the evolution of how they came to be. 30 mins online live lesson

I have developed a curriculum that aligns with Next Generation Science Standards. This curriculum has been used with several middle and high schoolers and has been very successful. When I was younger, I volunteered at an aquarium where I learned several things about marine life. One of my most important takeaways was conservation efforts that I learned from a conservation advocate. I would also participate as a leader for monthly youth nights where children of different ages came to learn about the animals through exciting enrichment activities. One way I received my strong knowledge of marine biology was through many animal science classes. Marine biology is a passion of mine and I am happy to share it with the students. Reviews
