Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Is your student struggling with math concepts in class? Or does your student need additional instruction to increase and extend the skills they already know to a mastery level? From June 13th-August 18th I will be holding one on one math-tutoring sessions to help your student prepare for the upcoming school year. I will tailor my instruction to fit the specific needs of your student. They will work one-on-one with a certified elementary school teacher who specializes in math instruction. I have great familiarity with the math standards for grades 3-6. The one on one atmosphere of this class will help your student leave feeling more confident about solving math problems as they will have a variety of strategies to attack both computation and word questions. If your student has suggested homework they are struggling with then we can also work on these problems during class.

Once you enroll in a course, I will reach out to determine the needs of your student so that I can tailor my instruction to their current level. I am excited to help your student find confidence in math and reach mastery where they struggle most.

Concepts that can be covered in our sessions:
-Multiplication and Division Facts
-Multi-digit Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division
-Decimals: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, and Conversions
-Fractions: Simplifying, Converting, Addition, Subtraction and Multiplication
-Order of Operations: how to solve complex problems with multiple steps.
-Word Problems
-Converting Units of Measurement: Metric and Customary

Supply List
Students should use a writing surface for class either a pencil/paper or whiteboard and a marker. You can find great and inexpensive options at the dollar store. I would also encourage that if your student is struggling with their math facts, that they have access to a multiplication table as well. I may provide resources and graphic organizers that may be beneficial to print out and have as a resource for your learner. Before or during our first class please help your student find and access the "Annotation" tool within Zoom.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
