Sudoku is a fun and engaging puzzle that promotes attention to detail, logical thinking and decision-making skills. While Sudoku does not require any calculation or mathematical skills (aside from counting from 1-9), it is a challenge that engages the puzzler in spatial reasoning and critical thinking tasks that are essential for higher level mathematics and science. A study conducted by the University of Cambridge also found that Sudoku was helpful in improving the memory of children....
I'm both a math teacher and a fan of Sudoku! I enjoy using puzzles and logic games to teach students the critical thinking skills necessary for higher level math and science. I'm so thrilled to be offering this class!
1 file available upon enrollmentA PDF document of Sudoku puzzles will be provided in the classroom upon enrollment. Students should print these puzzles in advance of the class and have them ready. Students will also need a sharp pencil and an eraser.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
