Description
Class Experience
I have taught study skills to my students and science team students for at least 10 years. For the last three years this has been for middle schoolers who are preparing for Science Olympiad competition with very little support--so these skills are critical and they have been wonderfully successful!
Students will be required to have the week's printables ready each week before watching the video lesson. Likewise they will need to print out homework materials each week. During lesson 4, they will need to have a textbook on-hand while watching the lesson.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
If your student has taken Cornell Note-taking with me already, that is a very small portion of the note-taking content of this course. Please feel free to add your older students to this class--especially if they struggle with Executive Function skills. The content is not relayed in a way that would make any student feel as though they were in a course that is "beneath" them and I have often taught this to tweens and teens simultaneously without issue. We start from the very basics, but it does not seem "too simple" even to the older student. This class is also taught in a live, once/week version and a 1-week CAMP version if one of these accommodates your family better. Camp students will still have daily homework but removes the content for identifying and using quality resources.
