What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-day course, students will learn a variety of study skills to help them in the classroom and in everyday life. We will discuss executive functioning and how we can best support our brains to do our best. We will cover note-taking, active listening, organizational skills, time management, and other tools for students to successfully take ownership of their educational experience. The class will meet live for 45 minutes, one day. My goal is to make the classroom as interactive as possible, which is done through Zoom features such as breakout rooms and annotation tools as well as a video embedded within the presentation. Students will have opportunities for peer collaboration and self-discovery. As a special educator in a brick and mortar setting, I believe all students are capable of amazing things, they just need to know how and have the tools to accomplish this. I believe students learn best when they take an active role in their learning, which is why I created this course. I want students to be able to have the tools and understanding of what they need personally to thrive. Students do not need any background knowledge or experience to join our class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn new ways to take notes, listen actively, interact with information to develop understanding of the topic, and effective test preparation skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Georgia Teaching Certificate in Special Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Towson University
Hi! My name is Rhea and I'm so happy you're here. 🙂
In 2017, I graduated with honors from Towson University - earning my Bachelor's in Elementary and Special Education. After graduation, I began my career in special education and went on to become an Intervention Coordinator. This gave me the opportunity to apply my extensive experience identifying and utilizing individual interventions on a school-wide level.
I am now the proud owner of an educational advocacy and consulting agency, through which I work to bridge the gap between educators and families. Coupled with my work on Outschool, I am able to provide a cohesive experience for families - providing both students and parents with the resources they need to thrive. If you'd like to learn more about services for parents, you can visit www.myeducationworks.org to learn more.
My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the potential in students - sometimes long before they see it in themselves. I firmly believe in an approach to education that is individualized, empathetic, encouraging, and always student-centered.
In every class, students are encouraged to use their inquisitive nature and their creativity to help them learn through self-discovery - creating a much deeper and impactful learning experience. I believe in student-led learning and creating experiences for students rather than talking "at them."
When I'm not teaching, I can often be found exploring nature with my own two little boys, spending time with my pets, or snuggled up with a good book.
Thank you so much for stopping by my profile and exploring the course offerings. I am so honored that you have considered me as your child's teacher. I look forward to meeting your learner!
