US Grade 1 - 3
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This class will teach students how to create and write an original fable story. We will: 1. Discuss a story problem and solution 2. Identify a moral lesson to be learned 3. Pick a setting 4. Select animal characters 5. Develop a plot by sharing ideas 6. Sequence story events with a beginning, middle and end 7. Receive teacher help to edit 8. Read aloud with expression to recognize punctuation marks Learners receive ample support to brainstorm and are guided to choose plot examples, animal characters and a moral lesson for their story. Through discussions, students dictate their story and receive grammar and sentence structure edits to help them produce their original fable story. This class includes numerous components to ensure student understanding: *individualized support through the Zoom chat box, *help for sentence structure, spelling accuracy and edits, *expression by speaking, thinking, illustrating ideas, *presentation skills by reading aloud, *learn moral lessons, and *develop a greater sense of confidence by writing for an extended period of time. This is intended to be a fun class and it is intended for learners to do their personal best. Some learners require more time to write and I don't want them to feel rushed during class. Please finish at home and share the following class.

I grew up and went to school in the New York City area but now live in a small farming community in rural Midwest, USA. I enjoy working with and meeting people from both urban and rural settings and readily adjust to meet their learning needs in a culturally responsive way. I also volunteer at a prison and remain adaptable to ensure a supportive and safe learning environment.
I have degrees in the area of Corporate Communication, Education, and Second Language Acquisition. I have been a certified public-school teacher since 2016 trained to teach Early Elementary, Elementary, Special Education, and ESOL. I have been an online teacher and tutor since 2018, working with learners diagnosed with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and middle school students who struggle to read and write. My teaching background is varied as a former 3rd Grade Classroom Teacher at a French immersion school, Associate level Orton-Gillingham trained structured reading teacher and as an Adjunct College Instructor.
I believe instructional data is crucial to improve learning outcomes. I constantly assess student comprehension during sessions in a relaxed and encouraging learning environment.
I love traveling and learning more about different cultures. This helps me to support all learners in my classroom. So far, I have visited Estonia, Russia, Kinshasa (Congo), London, Togo, South Korea, Latvia and a few other places. I also studied abroad in France. With each travel experience my respect for people and their culture simply deepens. I look forward to meeting you too!
