I'm thankful for you!*** During "Story Time with Ellie the Dog", students will enjoy enthusiastic read alouds from classic and contemporary children's books, all in the presence of my sweet dog, Ellie. Students will be provided with the opportunity to interact with the teacher and students via engaging questioning throughout the duration of the class. Class time will be structured in the following way: 1) greetings & introductions 2) pre-reading questions 3) teacher read aloud, with comprehension questions embedded 4) post-reading reflection. Topics covered will include themes such as friendship, kindness, perseverance and more. Depending on class participation and book length, multiple books may be shared during one session.

-With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
-Use illustrations and details in a story to describe its characters, setting, or events.
-Ask and answer questions about unknown words in a text.
-Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.
-Follow agreed-upon rules for discussions (e.g., listening to others with care, speaking one at a time about the topics and texts under discussion).
