This ongoing class is for beginners. In each 30-minute class, your child will learn Spanish vocabulary and simple sentences through a fun story. The ultimate goal is for your child to be able to say the story in Spanish using his/her own words. This class is an A1 level based on the CEFR. Learning a language through stories is a fun an easy way to learn! For each story, I will first introduce the vocabulary and sentences, making sure that your child will understand the key words in the story to follow. To help you grasp and assimilate the material, we will work on each story for a few weeks, but each class we will work on the chosen theme in a different, fun way. Students will work on the story props so they can use them for practice and they can use them when they present the story. Then, we will read the story and practice it several times. Your child will get to interact as a main character with my puppet friends and puffy animals. Your child can even bring their favorite puffy animal to be a part of the fun. On the last class, your child will present the story using the props we made in class and using his Spanish! I will use classic fairy tales that will be modified so your child can easily understand the story and participate. We will use the most common Spanish verbs in simple sentences. The stories will also be adapted so both boys and girls can play a role of their choice. In the class, I will use a variety of methods such as communicative method, gamification, task-based learning, etc. My classes are limited to five students so that each one will have an equal opportunity to practice and receive timely correction. I am a native Spanish speaker and I am an ELE (Spanish as a Foreign Language) certified teacher. Parental Guidance
Parent involvement depends on the child’s learning habits and age. Kids ages 4 to 6 may need some support in the first couple of classes while they get familiar with Zoom and class activities. Older kids usually do well on their own; however, some supervision helps when they have difficulty focusing or if they get distracted easily. Please note that Outschool's policy requires parents to stay off camera during class while providing supervision.

¡Hola! My name is Profesora Mary, and I am excited to help your child learn Spanish.
I truly love working with children with my puppet friends: Pancho, Beto, Moño, and Lucía. Your child will love learning Spanish — at their pace — while playing games and singing songs with me and my friends. Your child will also have fun through my use of many props, including puffy animals, toys and more.
My ultimate goal when I teach is to make sure that my students obtain the skills to communicate in Spanish. I do this while making sure that my students have fun while learning. My class activities help students connect the learning material to their own world, facilitating language acquisition.
Teaching and learning languages are two of my passions. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to combine them and make them my profession. There is no other job that I could enjoy more, and I love to share my enthusiasm and energy with students in my classes.
I have worked very hard to be a qualified teacher, and I have achieved this through online and in-person teaching experience and by obtaining a number of certificates related to language instruction and teaching young learners. I am a certified ELE (Español como Lengua Extranjera - Spanish as a Foreign Language) Teacher and a native Spanish speaker.
I am a mom and some of my hobbies include learning languages, making crafts and playing the flute.
I look forward to helping your child learn!
