In this one-time class students will take turns playing a Star Wars memory math game which will provide an introduction into correct pronunciation of fractions (e.g. one half, three fourths etc.),learning about fraction pies as well as how to understand them and the basic parts of a fraction. This class offers a way to teach the beginning concepts of fractions in a fun, relaxed kind of way. While individually taking turns to identify pairs, students will also have the opportunity to work...
Students will learn how to correctly pronounce/identify fractions, read fraction pies and learn the basic parts of a fraction while also flexing their memory muscles. They will learn how to encourage each other and how to participate in team based problem solving. They will also be able to share to the group about their favorite characters and/or games/movies etc. while enhancing their group speaking skills.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
